Hi all, just thought I`d let you all know I`m well,
still in Buenos Aires and beginning to think about moving on
again. Chief, my friend is coming to england and before he
leaves we are going to do a bit of travelling in the north west
(does anyone else always have to do that never eat shredded
wheat thing to figure out east and west?) where he has yet more
bloody family. last weekend we went to visit his family in entre
rios so called becuse it is located between two huge rivers, the
river uruguay and the river paranà. we stayed with his family of
which there are loads and they all insisted we eat with them and
so as a result we had about 4 or 5 large meals a day as well as
constant snacks and it was rude to refuse...so now I am about 5
stone heavier! they had built this house on an island in
one of the rivers and we all went out there on our last day for
a BBQ. It was really nice and I spent the whole day
playing in the river with the kids! anyway, they were all really
nice and the place was beautiful, it was really good to get out
of the city. and Buenos Aires is a beautiful city and I
love the architecture, it truly is very parisienne and some
parts of the city seem like anywhere else then you`ll come
across one beautiful structure or a small cobbled street with
people tangoing and drinking beer. But theres only so much
concrete you can see before you start going mad! Also
Buenos Aires is on the coast but the only water is a huge river
which happens to be filthy and rather stinky, in fact think of
the thames but 1000 times worse, there you go, youre nearly
there! there is however a national reserve here, one of
only two national reserves in the capital cities in the world,
Chief took erin and I before she left and it was really nice there,
kind of like a great big swamp with all the wildlife that
belongs there and it was mad being in the middle of it and
seeing the huge skyscrapers and business district from
there. Like a wild respite amidst all the madness of the
city. Like I said, we are going to be heading for the north west
soon as there are some really incredible things to see there and
we can stay with chiefs family. My spanish is coming along
very slowly as having chief here makes me really lazy and so I
have to get some practice and some motivation. after he leaves I
am going to head for patagonia and tierra del fuego, somewhere I
have always wanted to go! I`ll keep you all posted. love
you all Ems ps...vegas people. sorry for being so slack at
staying in touch, I think about you all so much and promise to
be a little better from now on! love you all viva Las Vegas
Backpackers!
