Hello True Believer,
I arrived at the
Göteborg bus terminal around 12:45 in the afternoon & didn't need to be at
the ferry station until 4pm.
Yes, it is safe to assume that
I had all the time in the world to catch that last ferry ride to Jutland in Denmark...
A few hours later,
I found myself at the local mini-mart where I met this photographer named Kristian
Krän. He gave me
a few tips on some cool places to visit, before inviting
me to join him on his nightly excursions of the city. So,
off we went,
down the cobble stone alley ways of Göteborg with a black bicycle
& a can of Red Bull. We went to this house party for dinner
& then
another house party for another dinner & if I had 20 kroners for every
photographer I met that night, I'd be a rich man.
I was presented
with a plate full of Swedish fish & mash potatoes, before Johan, the host,
gave me the grand tour of his
apartment. Then, he went on & told me
this beautiful story about waking up to "a pocket full of phone
numbers" & no memory
of the faces they belonged to. Thus, he
gave everyone a ring & invited them over for dinner. Then, the cabs came
& took us to
this pre-party on a boat, before all 12 of us piled into two cars
& headed straight towards the HouseLife
Music after hours party.
By 9 o'clock the next morning, I was too tired to go on any further & asked my newfound Swedish friends
to drop me off
at the
docks where I barely caught the 9:30 ferry, took a nap & the 3 hour ride to Denmark... -Geo D. Oliver, Alaska
